Witnessed a rich historical past

Besides its natural attractions, the area of Persina Nature Park has witnessed a rich historical past. There are multiple evidences of this: the antique castrum of Dimum located in the northern part of the town of Belene – a fort of an auxiliary detachment of the Roman army on the Lower Danube, established as far back as the 1st century CE, a medieval rock-hewn church from the 10-th-11-th c. near the town of Nikopol (declared as an natural attraction since 1976), the fortress of King Shishman on top of the Kaleto hill, and the St. St. Peter and Paul church from the period of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The Novae Roman legionary camp is 4 km of Svishtov.

The administrative building of Persina Nature Park Directorate with a Visitor Centre is situated in the town of Belene. The Visitor Centre regularly hosts local, regional, national and international events and exhibitions. Guests can receive information and advertising materials.

Persina Nature Park offers various possibilities for holidays admit nature. A series of respite places and bird-watching platforms are built along the river.
